Surrounded by ancient olive trees and rolling hills, this exclusive family-friendly farmhouse is the perfect getaway for unforgettable day trips to the most beautiful towns in Umbria and provides a unique opportunity to admire its splendid landscapes while soaking up the region’s incredibly rich historical and cultural heritage.

The villa is just a stone’s throw from Perugia, Umbria’s largest city. Its historic center rises in a helter-skelter of cobbled alleys, arched stairways and piazzas framed by churches and palazzi. Reminders of its lively past are everywhere, from ancient arches and medieval basilicas to Renaissance frescoes. But while history reverberates all around, Perugia knows how to party: university students pep up the nightlife and fill café terraces, while music-lovers swarm to the city in July for Umbria Jazz, one of Europe’s top jazz festivals.

The villa is a few kilometers from Panicale, on the eastern slope of Mount Petrarvella and overlooking Lake Trasimeno. Among the most important landmarks of the town is the fountain, whose construction dates back to the 15th century, the Collegiata di San Michele Arcangelo, which represents a fine example of Umbrian Baroque architecture, the Palazzo del Podestà, which boasts a high tower that can be seen from the valley below, and the Cesare Caporali Theatre, one of the smallest theatres in the region.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Lake Trasimeno, a splash of inky blue on the hilly landscape. Italy’s fourth-largest lake is a prime spot if you want to tiptoe off the well-trodden trail and slip into the languid rhythm of lake life. All around the 128-square-km lake, olive groves, woods of oak and cypress trees, vines and sunflower fields frame castle-topped medieval towns such as Castiglione del Lago and Passignano, draped along its shores like a daisy chain.

In less than one hour by car, you can reach Assisi, best known as the birthplace of Saint Francis of Assisi. With the plains spreading picturesquely below and Monte Subasio rearing steep and wooded above, the mere sight of Assisi in the rosy glow of dusk is enough to send pilgrims’ souls spiraling to heaven. It is at this hour, when the town is shrouded in saintly silence, that the spirit of Saint Francis can be felt most keenly. However, you don’t have to be religious to be struck by Assisi’s beauty.

The garden also features generous al fresco shaded lounge areas for relaxing and socializing.

Flooded with light, the spacious living room on the ground floor opens up to the patio and comes with a deluxe sound system, perfect for enjoying music with a glass of local wine. Adjacent is a comfortable TV room with fireplace, a large dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen opening onto a generous covered terrace complete with al fresco dining area and barbecue. Offering ample spaces, the ground floor also features an exceptional master bedroom complete with en-suite bathroom with tub.

Retention time
