Location and Surrounding Area. Villa Atlas is set in one of Sardinia's most famous beauty spots and offers some of the most gorgeous, white-sand beaches and stunning, turquoise waters you will have ever seen. In fact, many of the picture postcards portraying Sardinian beaches are in fact taken in this area just south of Olbia. The property would be ideal for a large family gathering or a group of friends wanting to spend time together relaxing on the magnificent nearby beaches. If you're lucky, you might even get to see dolphins splashing around in the protected waters of the Tavolara marine park. And let's not forget that the Sardinians constantly rank amongst the longest-living people on earth so they must be doing something right. In addition to the perfect beaches, spectacular scenery and myriad of sporting activities, Sardinians boasts a marvellous climate, exceptional wines and a long culinary tradition.
Villa Atlas is a short walk from Lu Impostu Beach, which has far-reaching views across to Tavolara Island in the distance behind the Capo Coda Cavallo promontory. You’ll find a kilometre of fine, white sand and shallow waters that are safe for children and great for just lazing about in the shimmering water. And Lu Impostu beach is only one of the many beautiful beaches in the area. Nearby Puntaldia Marina is a friendly place bustling with with cafés, bars, restaurants and small supermarkets.
Nearby Olbia was known as the Happy City in ancient Greek and its pretty port and historical centre are well worth visiting. The Gulf of Olbia also overlooks the islands of Tavolara and Molara. The Kingdom of Tavolara was set up in the 19th century by the Bertoleoni family as an imaginary state and today the “King of Tavolara”, Tonino Bertoleoni, runs a family-owned restaurant near the beach.
Inland Sardinia is criss-crossed with thousands of walking, biking and horse-riding trails; in fact, there are still plenty of areas where you can find yourself immersed in a completely natural landscape with absolutely no sign of man’s presence, just the silence emanating from the mountains, cork woodlands and centuries-old sheep and goat trails.
Villa Atlas is about 100m from Su Impostu white-sand beach and the other fabulous sandy coves and beaches are only a short walk away. The tourist marina at Puntaldia is 1 km from the villa and there is a 9-hole Puntaldia golf course only five minutes away by car. It is a 30 minute drive from the town of Olbia with its Costa Esmeralda International airport. The exclusive resorts of Porto Rotondo and the Golfo Aranci are about 30 km from the property, the Riu Mulinu Nuraghe are on the Su Casteddu hill above Olbia and not to be missed are the Giant's Tombs in nearby Su Monte de S'Aba.
The Property. This idyllic sea-view property offers 320 m2 of accommodation that sleeps up to ten guests in complete peace, privacy and tranquillity. The enormous windows ensure that a sense of the glorious surrounding natural landscape enters each and every room. There are five double bedrooms each with private bathroom and three of these bedrooms are in an adjacent building, allowing for maximum privacy. All of the rooms face out onto the spacious veranda area, ideal for a morning meet up in the fresh air before heading off down to the beach.
There is a large, comfortable sitting room with dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you might need for recreating some deliciously authentic Sardinian dishes. Most guests choose to eat al fresco out on the veranda, which is fully furnished for enjoying your meals in the fresh air with a shady outdoor sitting room area with a view of the sea, ideal for pre-dinner cocktails and after dinner coffee.
The immaculate gardens cover 1700 m2 and much of your time here is bound to be spent either splashing around in the swimming pool or lounging about on the enormous poolside decking area with its sun beds, shady pod or the covered swing seat. The pool has easy access steps for the younger ones in the group.
