Located near the shore of Lake Maggiore at Baveno, this elegant nine-bedroom villa is the perfect place for a relaxing break by one of Italy’s most romantic lakes, home to the bewitching Borromean Islands. The villa is just a stone’s throw away from Stresa, one of the loveliest and most historic towns by the lake, set on a shore bordered by luxuriant gardens. With its cascade of grand Art Nouveau hotels and Neo-Classical villas, it is no wonder that Stresa has been a popular holiday destination since the late 19th century.

Forming Lake Maggiore’s most beautiful corner, the Borromean Islands add a delightful touch of natural beauty and historic interest. The most famous is Isola Bella, a strip of rocky land where, during the 17th century, a lovely palace surrounded by spectacular terraced gardens roamed by peacocks was built. A tour of the palace takes you through a series of rooms decorated with canvases by famous Baroque painters, as well as fine furniture, sculptures and Flemish tapestries.

With narrow streets and tall houses with long balconies used for drying fish, Isola Superiore, also known as Fishermen’s Island, retains much of its original fishing-village atmosphere. Many visitors make it their port of call for lunch, but stay overnight and you will fall in love with the place. The largest of the islands, Isola Madre, boasts a beautiful botanical garden in which peacocks, parrots and pheasants roam freely, and a 17th-century palace built by the Borromeo princes.

The villa is just a few kilometers from Verbania, the biggest town on Lake Maggiore, which makes a good base for exploring the west bank. The town is strung out along the lakeshore and consists of three districts. Verbania Pallanza, the middle chunk, with a pretty waterfront and a ferry stop, is the most interesting one. Nicely set apart from the busier towns to the north and south, Cannobio, with its cobblestone streets, is a dreamy place that makes for a charming lake base.

The villa is located near the center of Baveno, where all the necessary services can be easily found.

The Property

Set in a quiet park with old trees and sweeping views over the calm waters of Lake Maggiore, Villa Olinda provides the perfect retreat for those seeking complete relaxation in one of the most evocative corners in Northern Italy. Offering a peaceful atmosphere, this magnificent villa has been recently renovated while preserving the atmosphere of a traditional Italian home.The villa can accommodate up to thirteen guests featuring five double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom spread over three levels.

Surrounded by a pine forest, the villa boasts a large swimming pool and a spacious poolside area furnished with sun loungers inviting guests to sit back and unwind. Offering a calm atmosphere, the area beside the pool is an idyllic spot for basking in the sun and enjoying wonderful moments of relaxation in the company of a good book. The villa also features a generous al fresco dining area with barbecue in the shade of an elegant wrought iron pergola, a playground, and a spacious veranda with white drapes and sofas.

Accessed from the garden, the main level boasts a welcoming doorway, a spacious dining room with large table and a generous living room featuring a grand piano and white leather sofas with plenty of seating. As the evening falls, relax on the sofa with a glass of local wine while you listen to the wood fire crackling.On the same level you will also find a large professional kitchen with all the amenities you might need during your stay. Flooded with light, the main floor also houses a relax room and a small bathroom with shower.

Accessed by a majestic staircase, the first floor houses five four luxuriously appointed double bedrooms offering an exquisite blend of period charm and modern comfort. Each bedroom is elegantly furnished with the finest fabrics and features en-suite bathroom with shower. Four of the bedrooms offer sweeping views of the lake, while the other one overlooks the park and the hill. The Peonia Room, the largest bedroom, features a comfortable armchair that can be converted into a sofa bed.

Offering supreme comfort, the ground level boasts a generous wellness area complete with Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and massage room. After a long day of sightseeing, unwind in the relax area on this level while large windows create a luminous atmosphere dominated by light colors. Fitness lovers will be able to keep up with their workout regimen without leaving the comfort of their own villa: the ground level also features a gym complete with treadmill.

Villa Olinda features wireless Internet access throughout the villa and air conditioning in all bedrooms. The villa features smart TV with satellite channels, Play Station 3 and Apple TV, a laundry room with washing machine and dryer. Each room features minibar and tea making facilities, safe and hairdryer. On request, the relax room on the main level can be converted in a sixth room with a double sofa bed. You will find a small bathroom with shower next to the room.
