Florence’s reputation as an art city is unparalleled. The Duomo is the heart of Florence and is easy to locate—just look for the high terracotta dome that dominates the city’s skyline. The area around the Duomo is pedestrianised and usually crowded with tourists. The easiest way to get around is on foot, given the flat streets and wide pavements. There are a few cafés and ice cream parlours in and around the square, perfect for a rest from sightseeing.

The Uffizi Gallery is just off Piazza della Signoria, where a replica of Michelangelo’s David stands tall over spectacular fountains beside the stately Palazzo Vecchio. The long loggia of the gallery connects the piazza to the Arno River. It is a short walk from the mediaeval Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, lined with jewellery shops. The Uffizi is one of Italy’s greatest art galleries. It spans the whole range of Florentine art, from stylised Byzantine icons to the flowing lines of early mediaeval art, through Renaissance masterpieces to the colourful complexities of Mannerist art. Instead of trying to see every painting, count how many animals you can spot in a painting or focus on highlights by famous Italian artists such as Giotto, Botticelli, Piero della Francesca, Leonardo, and Michelangelo.

The sprawling 16th-century Boboli Gardens, a fine example of Italian Renaissance gardens adjoining the vast Palazzo Pitti in the Oltrarno district, serve as the green lungs of the city. Laid out in formal glory, they provide a refreshing break from the city streets. After visiting the gardens, explore the narrow lanes of Oltrarno, which offer a range of excellent local restaurants and old-fashioned workshops. This area provides insight into the everyday life of Florentines, away from the tourist hotspots across the river.

The Property
Located on the first floor of a historic building in the heart of Florence, Garden Apartment boasts stylish contemporary furnishings and an abundance of natural light. With an impressive sense of comfort and elegance, this exceptionally designed apartment can accommodate ten guests in four bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom (four double bedrooms, one of which also features two sofa beds), plus two additional guests in two comfortable sofa beds located in the living room.

With bespoke furnishings and top-quality appliances, the interior space features a contemporary design. This apartment has been carefully restored while preserving a traditional Tuscan atmosphere. Decorated in neutral tones, it includes a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a large dining table. The kitchen connects to two living rooms: one furnished with comfortable sofas for relaxation and the other more formal, complete with an elegant bar.

Each of the four bedrooms (one with a standard double bed, two with queen-size beds, and one with a king-size bed that can be split into twin beds) features its own en-suite bathroom with a shower. In the bedroom with the king-size bed (which can be split into twin beds), there are also two sofa beds for additional guests. On request, two more guests (bringing the total to ten plus two additional guests) can be accommodated on two comfortable sofa beds in one of the living rooms.
