Located on the Amalfi Coast, this elegant four-bedroom villa is the perfect place for a stylish break on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. The Sorrentine Peninsula juts into the sea like a pointing finger, its shores sprinkled with Italy’s most spectacular beaches, its bucolic interior molded by the limestone Monti Lattari. The ancient center of Sorrento is laid out on a Roman grid of narrow lanes, now lined with restaurants serving pasta and shops selling lemon-themed souvenirs.

But away from the well-worn paths are little-explored nooks and crannies. The vaulted Sedile Dominova, once a meeting space for aristocracy, is now a working-men's club where old-timers while away afternoons playing cards. Then there are traditional greengrocers and haberdashers huddled behind wooden shop fronts, the medieval palaces along Via Pietà, the magnificent courtyard of Palazzo Correale, and artisan workshops producing the same wood intarsia for which the town became famous in the 18th century.

If Sorrento gets too much, the laid-back town of Vico Equense, which stands on a sheer tufa cliff just along the coast, makes an attractive base. Beach bums tend to head for the small pockets of sand tucked into coves at Marina di Vico and Marina d'Aequa, walkers tackle the old footpath to Positano, clinging to the cliffs on the Amalfi coastline, and culture hounds hop on the Circumvesuviana train to march around the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius.

The sight of Positano from a distance is breathtaking. Color is everywhere, reflecting on the tranquil sea, the silvery pebbled beach and the gleaming Majolica-domed church of Santa Maria Assunta. The houses built up from the waterside, accessible to one another via an endless array of steep stairs, boast pale sorbet colors. In summer, when the serried ranks of sunbeds fill up quickly, take a boat to explore the many small coves up and down the coast.

There's a lot to be said for leaving the best until last, and for many Ravello is the jewel in the coastal crown. If Positano is the glamour-puss of the Amalfi Coast, Ravello is its refined, aristocratic cousin. Nestled high on a hill above the sea, Ravello is famous for its secluded villas, ravishing gardens, magnificent views and romantic sense of faded glory have inspired a steady stream of writers, artists and musicians since the days of the Grand Tour.

Nerano is 12 km, Sorrento is 14 km, Positano is 22 km, Vico Equense is 23 km, Amalfi is 36 km, Pompeii is 38 km, Ravello is 43 km, Maiori is 43 km, Herculaneum is 53 km, and Naples is 60 km. The villa is less than 1,5 km from the center of Colli di Fontanelle, where all the necessary services can be easily found.

The Property

With wonderful views of the sea and the Sirenuse Islands, Villa Elia boasts an infinity heated pool and an exclusive hot tub on a generous terrace, providing the ultimate retreat in one of the most evocative corners on the Amalfi Coast. With an impressive sense of comfort and plenty of natural light, this exceptional villa can accommodate up to eight guests featuring four bedrooms (thee double bedrooms and one twin room) and three bathrooms spread over two floors.

With spectacular views of the sea, the terrace of the villa boasts an exceptional infinity pool (which can be heated on request at an additional cost) and a sundeck furnished with comfortable sun loungers for basking in the sun. Offering a calm atmosphere, the outdoor area is the perfect retreat to sunbathe or sip a cocktail while enjoying the sea breeze. The outdoor area also boasts an exceptional Beachcomber hot tub, a panoramic gym, an al fresco dining area and a comfortable lounge area with a large sofa for relaxing and socializing.

Accessed from large French doors opening onto the terrace, the main floor features a bright living room complete with comfortable sofas with plenty of seating and large dining table. Decorated with a palette of soft natural tones, the main floor of the villa also features a guest bathroom and a fully-equipped kitchen with all the amenities you might need during your stay. On this floor you will also find two comfortable rooms (a double bedroom and a twin room) sharing a large bathroom with shower.

Offering comfort and plenty of natural light, the lower floor features two bedrooms with en-suite bathroom (one with Jacuzzi tub and shower, one with tub with shower wand) overlooking the large terrace featuring the hot tub. Please note that the heating of the swimming pool is available at an extra cost and a previous notice is needed at least 48 hours before arrival. The villa also features wireless Internet access and air conditioning throughout – even in the bathrooms.
