Located near the heart of Amalfi and featuring panoramic balconies with spectacular sea views, this elegant five-bedroom villa is the perfect place for those who seek complete relaxation on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. Deemed an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape by Unesco, the Amalfi Coast is one of Italy's most memorable destinations. Here, mountains plunge into the sea in a vertical scene of precipitous crags, cliff-clinging abodes and verdant woodland.

Villa Baronessa is perched above the water and is ideal for friends wishing to immerse themselves in the joys of this breathtaking area of Southern Italy. The Amalfi Coastline is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has always been a desirable destination of the élite; from the artistic days of the Grand Tour to illustrious visitors such as Escher, Jackie Kennedy and Pablo Neruda. The romantic town of Amalfi, after which the Amalfi Coastline takes its name, is characterized by its fascinating vertical aspect.

Thanks to its enviable geography between the eastern and western parts of the Mediterranean, Amalfi became politically and economically important to the Byzantine Empire, and a promoter of Christianity in northern Africa. Tucked between mountains and sea, Amalfi is a town best explored on foot. While Piazza Duomo and the main street are home to most shops and restaurants, spend some time exploring the quieter side streets, where you will find arched passageways, hidden gardens and tiny piazzas.

Conca dei Marini is a pearl on the Amalfi Coast amongst scented lemon orchards and flamboyant flowers. Less renowned than the nearby Amalfi, Ravello and Positano, this tiny town has impeccably preserved the old charm of a fishing village, with white houses tucked into the rock, like precious stones in a sculpted setting. It first made headlines in 1962, as Jacqueline Kennedy, on holiday with her children in Ravello, would depart from Conca dei Marini’s port for waterskiing trips with the Agnelli family.

Maiori's wide stretch of beach that covers about a kilometer of coastline in fine and large-grain sand is the town's top attraction, making it a lively and popular destination. The Amalfi Coast does not have many sandy beaches: the coastline is instead home to countless tiny coves lined with rocks or small beaches with pebbles worn smooth by the waves. The main seafront beach was formed as a result of the catastrophic floods of 1954 which destroyed the historic center and is located next to the rebuilt modern center.

Among the countless places to visit in the area, perhaps Ravello and Positano stand out for the first-time visitor. Ravello, at 350 meters above sea level, offers both unforgettable architecture and scenic beauty. The 11th-century Cathedral and Villa Cimbrone are magnificent and a summer music festival is held each in the year in the gardens of the 13th century Villa Rufolo. D.H. Lawrence wrote Lady Chatterley's Lover here and the town has been frequented over the years by the likes of Greta Garbo and Winston Churchill.

Positano has been home to intellectuals and artists who have wandered up and down the picturesque labyrinths of steps and among the pastel-colored houses for centuries. The town today offers sophisticated shopping, charming restaurants, breathtaking views and multiple glamorous beaches. Meandering through the arches and passageways, you will find local shoemakers who will make you a pair of customized sandals and the majolica-tiled dome of the Church of Santa Assunta can be seen from almost every corner.

Villa Baronessa is 65 km from Naples Capodichino International Airport and 293 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. The center of Amalfi is just 1 km from the villa, Conca dei Marini is less than 3 km, Minori is 5 km, Maiori is 8 km, Ravello is 8 km, Praiano is 9 km, Positano is 15 km, Vietri sul Mare is 23 km, Pompeii is 38 km, Herculaneum is 55 km, and Naples is 62 km. The villa is located near the center of Amalfi, where bars, restaurants and all the necessary services can be easily found. Close to the villa you will find the equipped beaches of Amalfi Marina Grande, or Duoglio and Santa Croce, which can be reached by boat from Amalfi. By boat you can also reach One Fire beach and da Adolfo, near Positano.

The Property

Villa Baronessa can sleep ten guests in five double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom spread over three houses.

You will probably be spending a lot of your time in the elegance of the 36-meter long, infinity pool or just soaking up the Mediterranean sun on the comfortable sun loungers: sit back and unwind while enjoying the charming panorama. The gardens are relaxing and well-tended plus there is lots of room for children to let off steam too. With gorgeous views of the sea, the outdoor area is the perfect retreat to sunbathe or just sip a cocktail while enjoying the sea breeze.

The Main House boasts a generous sitting room and plenty of space for everyone to gather together of an evening. The French windows lead out onto the balcony and let in those refreshing summer breezes with the scent of lemon groves for which this area is famous. You can dine al fresco as the locals do out on the terrace and watch the twinkling lights of the yachts on the sea below. If you decide to try your hand at rustling up some authentic, Italian dishes, you will find everything you need in the fully-equipped kitchen. 

You will find three bedrooms in the Main House. On the ground floor you will find a double bedroom with king-size bed, en-suite bathroom, and balcony. On the upper floor you will find two double bedrooms with king-size bed, en-suite bathroom with double sink, shower and tub, and balcony.  Close to the Main House are two Cottages, each offering a double bedroom with king-size bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and tub, and sitting area.
