Located in one of the most appreciated areas in Southern Italy, just a few kilometers from the marvelous Adriatic coast and out the charming towns of Cisternino and Ostuni, this exclusive nine-bedroom property is ideally situated to offer complete privacy to its guests, providing a perfect retreat for those who want to explore this exclusive area. Famous for its whitewashed towns, excellent food, dramatic coastal cliffs and beautiful beaches, this area of Apulia features all the ingredients for the perfect vacation.

With white-washed houses, a stunning square, and narrow, winding streets, Cisternino is one of the most picturesque towns in Apulia. Despite its small size, Cisternino has a lively atmosphere, particularly in the summer months when the town's main square comes alive with music and entertainment. Make sure you check out the town’s famous barbecuing butchers: just choose your meat, take a seat, and wait for your meal to be brought out to you.

The villa is just a stone’s throw away from the town of Martina Franca, the largest town in the Valle d’Itria. Being in the heart of the valley, the town of Martina Franca is a great base from which to explore this wonderful area, but spend some time exploring its old center, an interesting mix of golden baroque and Greek-like white architecture with many grand palazzi and churches, and a maze of narrow side streets perfect for aimless wandering.

In twenty minutes by car, you can easily reach Locorotondo, a whitewashed hilltop town designated as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. The old city radiates out around the 19th century neoclassical Chiesa Madre San Giorgio, a church dedicated to the patron saint of the city. Since Locorotondo is perched on a hill, you can get amazing views of the surrounding countryside from the Villa Comunale, the public garden located on the west side of the historic center.

In just twenty minutes by car, you can also reach Ostuni, also known as “the white city.” With its ancient cobblestone streets, grand churches and quaint white houses, Ostuni boasts remarkable history that goes back to the Stone Ages. The Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace are especially striking, but there are many other architectural gems to be found, including the old homes of the nobles: you would not be mistaken for thinking that you are wandering around a lovely Greek village.

The Property
Surrounded by gentle hills, green meadows, and olive trees, Villa Il Cigno is the result of a perfect balance between Italian tradition and contemporary style, providing a unique retreat for those seeking privacy and relaxation in one of the most appreciated areas in Apulia. Designed by Vincenzo Melluso, this magnificent villa can sleep eighteen guests in nine bedrooms (plus two guests in two single sofa beds) spread across multiple buildings connected by long corridors, creating an evocative maze of rooms and hallways.

Surrounded by a Mediterranean garden overlooking olive trees, the property has a uniquely shaped pool and a spacious poolside area furnished with comfortable sun loungers, inviting guests to unwind. Offering a calm atmosphere, the property boasts a wide choice of outdoor areas where you can relax with a book or take a siesta. Immersed in vegetation, the outdoor area also features a semi-covered dining area with tables and kitchen accessories, perfect for dining.

The interior living space is decorated with pieces of modern design, while the windows overlooking the garden create a luminous atmosphere. Composed of several blocks connected by long corridors, this exclusive property offers a spacious dining area with a professional, fully-equipped kitchen complete with a fridge and freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher, two ovens, a microwave, and a toaster. Please note that this area (kitchen and dining) does not have air conditioning. Here, you will also find a guest bathroom.

On the lower ground floor and accessible via an internal staircase, which is found between the kitchen and the dining area, is the wine cellar (extra, on request). Dominated by light colors, the villa boasts a spacious lounge area, which is spread over two floors, with comfortable sofas with plenty of seating. Complete with air conditioning, this area also features a piano and a fully-equipped kitchen. Downstairs, you will find a room with fireplace and a TV room, both with comfortable sofas. Here you will also find a guest bathroom.

In this area of the property, you will also find an exclusive wellness area featuring an indoor pool and a Turkish bath, perfect for unwinding after a long day exploring the nearby Apulian towns. Here you will also find a handy guest bathroom. By indulging the senses, guests are immersed in a sanctuary of tranquility. Offering a haven of rest and relaxation, the wellness area is accessible from the sleeping area by using an internal staircase.

The sleeping area boasts five double bedrooms spread over two floors. Three bedrooms are on the ground floor, with large French doors opening onto the garden and pool area: one bedroom features an en-suite bathroom with bathtub/shower, while the other two feature an en-suite bathroom with shower. The first room can connect to the second room, creating an even more spacious layout. Two bedrooms are located on the first floor, both with en-suite bathroom with shower. All bedrooms have air conditioning.

The oldest part of the property features four bedrooms (three double bedrooms and a twin room) spread over two floors. Two bedrooms (one twin room with en-suite bathroom with tub/shower and one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower) are on the ground floor. On the ground floor, you will also find a living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a guest bathroom. On the upper floor, you will find two double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom with shower (one on the right and one on the left wing).

On the upper floor, in front of one of these two bedrooms there is a generous living area, which can also be used as a bedroom, given the presence of two sofa beds (for two additional guests) and a bathroom reserved for this area. From the French window of the living area, you have access to the spacious terrace equipped with garden furniture with a wonderful view overlooking the property. All bedrooms have air conditioning.

The rooftop houses a magnificent 18th-century brass canopy bed from Morocco, creating a warm atmosphere and an intimate lounge area. Designed by Sicilian architect Vincenzo Melluso in collaboration with Erich Demetz, the pavilion “Una Scatola di Luce, Un Gioco di Sguardi” is completely flooded with light, and its interior east wall displays the verses of a poem by Salvatore Quasimodo. The cube becomes a place for rest and meditation on the one hand and for contemplation of the landscape on the other.
