Location and Surrounding Area. Villa La Maschera is an extremely elegant property set right in the heart of the historical centre of Viareggio. It overlooks the famous Versilia waterfront and is close to the upmarket seaside resorts of Marina di Massa and Forte dei Marmi. The gently-sloping, sandy shelf makes the beaches in the area safe for small children.

The area is most famous for its fine food and wine plus the attractions of the Versilia coastline with its fashionable resorts and celebrity beach clubs. Viareggio itself is a popular seaside town, which offers stunning architecture and is home to the famous carnival parade and a whole host of summer events such as the Puccini Festival, the Jazz Festival as well as various theatre productions. Forte dei Marmi is full of designer shops and exclusive restaurants. Pietrasanta is known locally as “Little Athens” and is only 13 km away. It houses numerous art galleries that bring  art collectors and enthusiasts flocking from all over the world.

Lucca, Florence and Pisa are easily reached by either train or car. Lucca has often been voted one of the world's most desirable cities to live in or visit. It is perhaps most famous for it's thick, 16th century ramparts which encircle the city and were restored in the 19th century to create a wide, tree-lined walkway. You can walk or cycle on top of the whole length of the walls and discover the wonders of the town within. There are pretty cobbled streets, ancient piazzas, gorgeous churches, glorious renaissance buildings, markets and countless local restaurants, bars and trattorias. Lucca was the birthplace of the Italian opera maestro, Giacomo Puccini and the town often hosts international opera as well as classical music events and rock concerts.

Villa La Maschera is about a 30 minute drive from Pisa international airport, 12 km from Forte di Marmi, 25 km from Pisa, 30 km from Marina di Massa and Lucca and about an hour and a half from Florence.

The Property. Villa La Maschera sleeps up to 20 guests in 10 sumptuous double bedrooms and would make an ideal destination for either a large family or group of friends wishing to stay in the centre of the action. The sleeping accommodation is spread out over the main house and the pool house and the gorgeous gardens contain the swimming pool and furnished areas for lapping up the sun.
