PALAZZO LECCESE - MASSERIA MOSCA - MURO LECCESE

5 Bedrooms

Location and Surrounding Area
Located in one of the most sought-after areas of Southern Apulia, just a few kilometres from the coast, this exceptional five-bedroom masseria is ideally situated to offer complete relaxation and privacy to its guests, providing an opulent escape for those wishing to explore this exclusive region. Famous for its whitewashed towns, excellent cuisine, dramatic coastal cliffs, and beautiful beaches, this area of Southern Apulia offers all the ingredients for the perfect vacation.

The villa is just a stone’s throw from Otranto, a natural bridge between the Mediterranean and the East, and a charming location where the ancient atmosphere of the historic centre blends seamlessly with a vibrant nightlife. In less than forty minutes by car, you can easily reach Gallipoli, meaning “beautiful city,” where you can explore the narrow, paved streets of the historic centre and catch occasional glimpses of the sea, or stop at the fish market to mingle with the locals.

Santa Maria di Leuca boasts one of the largest and most fascinating tourist ports in Salento, with 760 mooring places accommodating boats up to 40 metres long. The coast, bordered by Punta Ristola and Punta Meliso, alternates between cliffs and beaches, featuring the characteristic stone “bagnarole.” In Leuca, you will also find captivating marine caves accessible by boat; the marine life and crystal-clear waters make them perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Porto Cesareo is situated on a prestigious stretch of the Ionian coast, offering a long expanse of golden beach and sparkling clean seas. This popular seaside resort features an impressive 17 km of sandy shore facing an archipelago of low-lying islands that form a protected bay. The calm, clear waters are ideal for swimming. Porto Cesareo is also home to a nature reserve, a marine protected area rich in flora and fauna, including rare species. Underwater excursions reveal unique coral formations, turtles, seahorses, and other marine life.

The city of Gallipoli, Greek for Beautiful City, is a gem in the blue waters of the Ionian Sea. Its port has established it as a maritime town for centuries, and it still maintains an active fishing trade. Historically a trade port with connections to the Orient, the town's decorations and features reflect this heritage. The elegant old centre hints at its once significant past. The beaches are renowned throughout Italy for their cleanliness, adorned with colourful rows of umbrellas and vibrant seafront bars and restaurants during the summer.

Masseria Acqua is approximately 84 km from Brindisi Airport (also known as Salento Airport) and 202 km from Bari Karol Wojtyla International Airport. Castro is 14 km from the villa, Otranto is 18 km, Tricase Porto Beach is 26 km, Lecce is 33 km, Torre San Giovanni is 38 km, Santa Maria di Leuca is 40 km, Torre Mozza Beach is 40 km, Leverano is 41 km, Torre Chianca is 50 km, Porto Cesareo is 54 km, and Gallipoli is 55 km. The masseria is located in the town of Muro Leccese, where all essential services are readily available.

The Property
Situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Muro Leccese near Otranto, Masseria Mosca is a charming masseria located in one of the most evocative corners of Southern Italy. Restored to its former glory by architect Federico Pace, the property dates back to the 16th century, and the interior décor is stylishly sleek with a bohemian-chic flair. This exclusive villa can accommodate up to eleven guests in five bedrooms (two double bedrooms, one double bedroom with an additional single bed, one double bedroom, and one twin room) spread over two floors.

Surrounded by a lush garden, the masseria features an exclusive swimming pool and a generous poolside area furnished with sun loungers, inviting guests to sit back and unwind. The villa also boasts a spacious al fresco dining area shaded by a pergola. The garden includes an al fresco lounge area with sofas under another pergola, a table tennis table, and an outdoor shower.

The expansive kitchen and living areas on the ground floor feature glorious vaulted ceilings typical of Apulian farmhouses, offering plenty of space for entertaining. The views across the idyllic gardens and swimming pool are superb. On the ground floor, you will also find a dining area with a large table and two double bedrooms (or twin rooms), one with an en-suite bathroom with a shower and one with a private bathroom with a shower.

On the first floor, you will find three bedrooms: one with a comfortable canopy bed, a single bed, and a private bathroom with a shower; one double bedroom; and one twin room (which can be converted to a double bedroom), sharing a private bathroom with a shower. The first floor also features a lounge room with a TV, a small table, and an exceptional terrace, as well as an additional outdoor shower.
