LOMBARDY

Lombardy is occupied by a large area of the Po Valley, bordered to the north by the Alps. Lombardy was the cradle of the Romanesque style of architecture, of which you will find beautiful examples in almost every one of its major cities. The Renaissance period left many splendid palaces, fine churches and great works of art, especially in the Lombard cities of Mantua, Pavia and Cremona.
