With a panoramic position, Villa Bouganvillea is a lovely and carefully-restored villa with breathtaking views over the mountains and Tyrrhenian part of the Mediterranean Sea. Perfect for a stylish break on one of the most celebrated stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean, this charming villa is set on the hillside above the magnificent beaches of the exclusive resort of Maratea, which is known locally as the “pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea” and the “town of 44 churches” for its high number of historical buildings.

Much of Basilicata is an otherworldly landscape of mountain ranges, trackless forests and villages that seem to sprout organically from the granite. Not easily penetrated, it is strategically located. In the north the landscape is a fertile zone of gentle hills and valleys. The interior is dominated by the Lucanian Apennines and the Parco Nazionale del Pollino. The Tyrrhenian coast is a wonderland of rocky coves and villages. Here, Maratea is one of Italy's most charming seaside resorts.

Maratea offers a bustling marina and the steep slope up to the panoramic old town center is full of bars, restaurants and family-run trattorias serving authentic, local food. It has always been a magnet for both professional and amateur photographers, who come from all over to capture the pretty lanes, meandering steps and unexpected glimpses of the sparkling sea from hidden corners in the old town. There is a huge statue of Christ the Redeemer up on the hill, stretching his arms protectively over the town.

Any visit to the area should include the spectacular walking in either the Cilento National Park or the Pollino National Park. Both offer rugged mountain landscapes, breathtaking sea views and lively seaside towns along the western coast. The coastline is a stunning contrast of high cliffs, long sandy or pebbly beaches and hidden coves, which cry out to be explored by boat. Paestum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to three of the world's best preserved, Greek Temples.

The Property

With a tranquil position overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, Villa La Bouganvillea boasts a rustic atmosphere, providing a perfect hideaway in one of the most celebrated destinations in Southern Italy. Trapped between an infinite blue sky and azure sea, the spectacular cliff-top setting of the villa ensures superb panoramas.Overlooking the sea, this recently-restored villa can accommodate up to eleven guests featuring six bedrooms (four double bedrooms, one twin room and one single room).

Offering a tranquil atmosphere, the villa boasts a generous terrace with an exceptional infinity pool with wonderful views of the sea. Outdoors you will also find al fresco lounge areas for relaxing and socializing and an exclusive area with barbecue where guests can intimately spend time together while enjoying the mild Mediterranean climate. The patio has a large table under a romantic gazebo with unforgettable views of the amazing sunsets, perfect for winding down with a glass of chilled local wine.

Flooded with natural light, the villa’s large living room features comfortable sofas with plenty of seating. The sitting room is enormous and features a fireplace for cozy conversations in the evenings. There is direct access to the gardens, which further increases the sense of space and light in the villa. There is an indoor dining room but most of your meals will probably be eaten al fresco. The ground floor also features a fully-equipped country-style kitchen. A bathroom and a laundry room complete the ground floor.

The villa is beautifully designed to let the sunshine into your holiday and many of the rooms enjoy splendid sea views. The six bedrooms area spread over two floors. On the first floor you will find a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with tub; and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. The second floor features a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom; a single room with en-suite bathroom; a double bedroom and a twin room sharing a bathroom.

The villa also features an additional room with twin beds for two additional guests, so the villa can sleep up to thirteen guests (eleven guests in the six bedrooms plus two additional guests in this twin room). The gardens are filled with the delightful scents of Mediterranean vegetation and are another ideal spot for kicking back and watching the sun set over the sea and then down behind the mountains. The gardens are fenced, which makes it safe for even the smallest of children.

Retention time
