Location and Surrounding Area
Located near the very heart of Positano, this three-bedroom villa is the perfect place for a stylish break on one of the most celebrated stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. The sight of Positano from a distance is breathtaking. Color is everywhere, reflecting on the tranquil sea, the silvery pebbled beach and the gleaming Majolica-domed church of Santa Maria Assunta. The houses built up from the waterside, accessible to one another via an endless array of steep stairs, boast pale sorbet colors.

Despite its mountainside setting, Praiano has always had a strong connection with the sea. Its ancient name likely derives from the Latin for “open sea” because the town sits on a cape along the Amalfi Coast. The town has long been known for fishing, including the production of nets, and later coral fishing. Evidence of the fishing tradition can be seen at the Marina di Praia beach, which is often covered with small wooden boats and heaps of fishing cages and nets.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Sorrento. The ancient town center of Sorrento is laid out on a Roman grid of narrow lanes, now lined with exclusive restaurants serving gnocchi and shops selling lemon-themed souvenirs, but away from the well-worn paths are little-explored nooks and crannies. From Sorrento, hop on the Circumvesuviana train to march around the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius.

With a seeming maze of streets and staircases, Amalfi is a town best explored on foot. While Piazza Duomo and the main street are home to most of the town’s shops and restaurants, do spend some time wandering and exploring the quieter side streets, where you will find arched passageways, hidden gardens and tiny piazzas. Sitting high in the hills above Amalfi, Ravello is famous for its ravishing gardens and stupendous views, the best in the world according to former resident Gore Vidal.

The center of Positano is 800 m from the villa, Praiano is 10 km, Sorrento is 16 km, Amalfi is 19 km, Vico Equense is 20 km, Minori is 23 km, Massa Lubrense is 23 km, Nerano is 24 km, Maiori is 25 km, Ravello is 26 km, Pompeii is 36 km, Herculaneum is 52 km, and Naples is 58 km.

The villa, which dates back to the 1760s, has been masterfully restored while retaining its historical roots. Overlooking the sea and the town of Positano, Villa Gioiosa is set on three levels and can accommodate up to six guests in three double bedrooms with bathroom.

Typical high vaulted ceilings and gorgeous niches, walk-in closets, corridors, and passageways finished with soft colors and sophisticated craftsmanship, as seen in the elegant teak parquet, create a warm and welcoming effect in harmony with the outdoor Mediterranean ambience. Included in this are terraced gardens typical of the Amalfi Coast, filled with lemons, tangerines, oranges, and apricots, as well as a spacious patio with a pizza oven and barbecue.

Each 50-square-meter bedroom has a marble bathroom with large shower, one also has a Jacuzzi tub. Two bedrooms are on the first level, which is also the entrance level, where you will also find a terrace. Between the first and second level, you will find the third bedroom, which is actually a small apartment with its own kitchen. On the top level, complete with fully-equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, and TV area, large glass doors lead out to a magnificent 150-square-meter terrace with a stunning view of Positano.
