Villa dei Colli – Padova - Veneto
7 Bedrooms – Jacuzzi pool
Location and Surrounding Area. Villa dei Colli estate sits on the high plains above Padua and Venice. It commands spectacular views across the surrounding countryside and is within easy reach of most of the important sites in the Veneto region. The estate produces award-winning wines from the Capodilista vineyard and often holds wine-tasting events of international standard. The area around Conegliano and Valdobbiadene is home to arguably the best prosecco in the world. Wine-tasting tours and visits to the vineyards are available all year round.
The villa is ideally located to explore some of the most beautiful architecture in the Veneto region. Elegant Vicenza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to no less than 23 buildings designed by the influential, 16th century architect Andrea Palladio.
Magical Venice is famous for its epic grandeur. A visitor can spend weeks exploring the picturesque canals, gondolas, art, historical palazzi and narrow backstreets and still come away with a sense of not having seen everything there is to see. The oldest church in Venice, the magnificent Basilica Santa Maria Gloriosa Dei Frari, features a Titian altarpiece. Titian is interred here in the Frari, as locals call the Basilica and Donatello's first documented work in Venice, his sculpture of St. John the Baptist is found in the first south choir chapel.
There are 118 different islands scattered across the Venetian Lagoon so why not take the private boat and spend a day or two exploring them? Burano Island features picture-postcard, colourful houses, speciality lace and stunning Byzantine mosaics in the first century Santa Maria Assunta cathedral. Murano island is famous for its hand-blown glass. Ernest Hemingway lived and wrote in the northern area of the Lagoon and you can still find traces of his inspiration in the migrating birds that circle over the water.
For golf players, the nearby La Montecchia golf club also features one star Michelin restaurant, La Montecchia, which can also serve meals to guests in the villa.
Villa dei Colli is loacted 60 km from Venice international airport and 50 km from Venice itself. It is only a couple of kilometres outside Padova, a half hour drive from Vicenza and about an hour from Conegliano.
