Location and Surrounding Area. Located in one of the most appreciated areas in Sicily, just a few kilometers from the coast, this exclusive six-bedroom property is ideally situated to offer complete privacy and tranquility to its guests, providing a perfect escape for those who want to explore this diverse region which is home to historic towns, incredible landscapes, excellent food and some of the most spectacular beaches in Montalbano’s Sicily. The villa is just a stone’s throw away from Ragusa, one of the most picturesque towns in Sicily and one of the UNESCO-listed Baroque towns in Europe.

After the 1693 earthquake, Ragusa was so damaged that a new town was built on a high plateau to the west. Many buildings in the old town were repaired and rebuilt, however, so both towns show a marked Baroque influence that characterizes its tourist attractions today. Stepping from the orderly grid of streets and avenues into the old town’s tangle of nooks and lanes is like being in two different cities. Like the newer town above, the Old Town of Ragusa, a quiet quarter of narrow streets, was also largely rebuilt in the Baroque style after the 1963 earthquake, so you will see examples of 18th-century architecture scattered among other buildings that survived before the earthquake.

Like Ragusa, only fifteen kilometers away, Modica was damaged in the 1693 earthquake and was largely rebuilt in the Sicilian Baroque style. Its highlight is the 18th-century Church of San Giorgio, which dominates the upper town and is approached by a flight of 250 steps. Major attractions in the lower town include the Chiesa del Carmine, with its 15th-century Gothic rose window, the sumptuously Baroque San Pietro, and the Palazzo de Leva with its Norman doorway. The villa is also a few kilometers from Donnafugata and its famous castle: although its exterior is certainly castle-like, inside its rooms are more reminiscent of a palace, elaborately decorated and furnished, with walls covered in murals and damask.

Full of artistic treasures and delicacies for the palate, Sicily is also famous for its balmy beaches and spectacular coastline. Traveling along the coastline, visitors will come across the sandy beaches of Punta Secca, Marina di Ragusa and Donnalucata. In just one hour by car, you can also reach Noto, a spectacular Baroque city in the province of Syracuse and an architectural paradise with one of the most beautiful historic centers in Sicily. From here, you can easily reach Syracuse, which is partly located on an island called Ortygia, where much of the city’s history can be found.

Ragusa is just 15 km from the villa, Donnafugata is 16 km, Scicli is 24 km, Modica is 26 km, Noto is 59 km, and Syracuse and Ortygia are 97 km. The beach of Marina di Ragusa is just 13 km from the villa, the beach of Donnalucata is 21 km, and the beach of Punta Secca is 22 km.

The Property. Combining rustic architecture and sophisticated style, Masseria Iblea measures 430 square meters and can accommodate up to sixteen guests, offering six bedrooms and seven bathrooms distributed over two floors.

The villa is surrounded by an exquisitely kept garden where you will find a magnificent swimming pool and a spacious poolside area equipped with comfortable sun loungers and a large gazebo providing plenty of shade on hot summer days.
