Description

VILLA SORRENTINA - SORRENTO

12 Bedrooms

Location and Surrounding Area
Located near the centre of Sorrento, this twelve-bedroom villa is the perfect place for a stylish break on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. The Sorrentine Peninsula juts into the sea like a pointing finger, its rugged shores sprinkled with some of Italy’s most spectacular beaches, and its bucolic interior shaped by the limestone Monti Lattari. The centre of Sorrento is laid out on a Roman grid of narrow lanes, now lined with restaurants serving pasta and shops selling lemon-themed souvenirs.

However, away from the well-trodden paths are little-explored nooks and crannies. The vaulted Sedile Dominova, once a meeting space for the aristocracy, is now a working men’s club where old-timers while away afternoons playing cards. There are also traditional greengrocers and haberdashers nestled behind wooden shop fronts, the medieval palaces along Via Pietà, the courtyard of Palazzo Correale, and artisan workshops producing the same wood intarsia for which the town became famous in the 18th century.

Set in the hills just below the ridge that divides Sorrento from the sheer southern coastline lies the village of Sant'Agata Sui Due Golfi, named for its vantage point over both the gulfs of Naples and Salerno. To the west and south-west of Sorrento is a hilly hinterland, the sprawling Massa Lubrense, and a wild stretch of coast that developers have left untouched. Massa Lubrense is home to hamlets and ancient lookout towers, reminders of repeated invasions over the centuries, surrounded by citrus and olive groves.

If Sorrento becomes overwhelming, the laid-back town of Vico Equense, perched on a sheer tufa cliff just along the coast, makes an attractive base. Beach lovers tend to head for the small pockets of sand tucked into coves at Marina di Vico and Marina d'Aequa, while walkers tackle the old footpath to Positano, clinging to the cliffs of the Amalfi coastline. Culture enthusiasts hop on the Circumvesuviana train to explore the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, both destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius.

Villa Sorrentina is 56 km from Naples Capodichino Airport and 284 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport. Sorrento is 3 km from the villa, Massa Lubrense is 7 km, Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi is 7 km, Nerano is 13 km, Vico Equense is 15 km, Positano is 22 km, Pompeii is 30 km, Conca dei Marini is 32 km, Amalfi is 36 km, Maiori is 42 km, Ravello is 43 km, Herculaneum is 45 km, and Naples is 52 km. The villa is just 3 km from the city centre. Tucked away off the main road, the location is quiet and peaceful.

The Property
Located near the very heart of Sorrento, Villa Sorrentina boasts a furnished terrace and balconies with expansive panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, providing the ultimate retreat in one of the most evocative corners of the Sorrento Coast. With stylish contemporary furnishings and an abundance of light, Villa Sorrentina can accommodate up to 24 guests, featuring 12 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms spread over four floors.

Complete with a manicured garden, this elegant villa boasts a private pool with Jacuzzi and cervical waterfall, a lounge area, and a sundeck. The villa also features a furnished terrace and several balconies providing splendid views of the gulf and Mount Vesuvius. With gorgeous views of the sea, the al fresco dining and bar area is the cherry on top, enhancing your outdoor experience at the villa. Pool heating (between 28°C and a maximum of 30°C) is included from October to the end of April.

Decorated with colourful furnishings and artworks, the lower level boasts a spacious and modern living room for socialising, as well as a generous dining room. Multiple large windows create an airy atmosphere, while high-end materials such as marble floors, original railings along the staircase, hand-painted Vietri ceramic tiles, and luxurious fabrics exude style and elegance. Flooded with light, the villa features a professional kitchen with contemporary elements and all the amenities you might need during your stay.

The lowest level of the villa comprises seven double bedrooms with king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers. On the main level, there are four double bedrooms with king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms with showers. The top level features an exclusive suite with a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and a private terrace with views of the sea. Air conditioning is available from mid-May to the end of September. Upon request, the double bedrooms can be converted into twin rooms.
