Description

Masseria Luce - Scorrano - Apulia

5 Bedrooms - Pool

Location and Surrounding Area. Located in one of the most appreciated areas in Southern Apulia, just a few kilometres from the glorious coast, this exceptional five-bedroom masseria is ideally situated to offer complete relaxation and privacy to its guests, providing an opulent escape for those who want to explore this exclusive area. Famous for its whitewashed towns, excellent food, dramatic coastal cliffs and beautiful beaches, this area of Southern Apulia features all the ingredients for the perfect vacation.

The villa is just a few kilometres from Otranto, a natural bridge between the Mediterranean and the East, and a charming land where the ancient atmosphere of the historic center goes hand in hand with a lively nightlife. Lying deep in Italy’s stiletto, Otranto has back-heeled quite a few invaders over the centuries and been brutally kicked by others, most notably the Turks. Sleuth around its compact old quarter and you can peel the past off in layers: Greek, Roman, Turkish and Napoleonic.

In less than forty minutes by car, you can reach Gallipoli, whose name means “beautiful city”. The port has established it as a maritime town for centuries and it still has an active fishing trade. It was a trade port with ties to Orient, as seen in some decorations and touches around the town. The elegant old center hints at its once important past. The beaches are known throughout Italy as some of the cleanest around, with colorful rows of umbrellas and bright seafront bars and restaurants decorating them in the summer.

Bequeathed with baroque buildings by its 17th-century architects, the city of Lecce has a completeness and homogeneity that other southern Italian metropolises lack. Indeed, so distinctive is Lecce’s architecture that it has acquired its own moniker, Lecce baroque, an expressive and decorative incarnation of the genre replete with gargoyles, asparagus columns and cavorting gremlins. Swooning 18th-century traveler Thomas Ashe thought it “the most beautiful city in Italy”.

Santa Maria di Leuca boasts one of the biggest tourist ports in Salento, with 760 mooring places that can accommodate boats up to 40 meters long. The coast, surrounded by Punta Ristola and Punta Meliso, alternates cliffs and beaches, with the characteristic “bagnarole” made of stone. In Leuca, you will also find the fascinating marine caves that can be visited via boats: the marine life and crystal-clear water underneath the caves make them a perfect hotspot for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Masseria Luce is 83 km from Brindisi Airport (also known as Salento Airport) and 202 km from the Bari Karol Wojtyla International Airport. Scorrano is 3 km from the villa, Maglie is 3 km, Otranto is 23 km, Castro is 23 km, Tricase Porto Beach is 26 km, Gallipoli is 29 km, Lecce is 33 km, Torre dell’Orso is 34 km, Torre San Giovanni is 34 km, Torre Mozza Beach is 38 km, Santa Maria di Leuca is 39 km, Leverano is 40 km, Torre Chianca is 51 km, and Porto Cesareo is 54 km.

The Property. Encircled by ancient olive groves and within easy reach of the glorious coastline, Masseria Luce is a charming masseria located in one of the most evocative corners in Southern Italy. Blending old world elegance with modern comfort, the villa preserves the atmosphere of a traditional masseria. Located just a few kilometers from the most famous sandy beaches of the region, Masseria Luce can accommodate up to ten guests featuring five double bedrooms (plus two extra guests in a double sofa bed).

Set in a ten-hectare ground of olive groves, this exclusive masseria boasts an exceptional swimming pool and a generous paved poolside area furnished with comfortable sun loungers inviting guests to sit back and unwind. Offering a tranquil atmosphere, the villa features a generous al fresco lounge and dining area in the shade of a large pergola overlooking the pool. With gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside, the outdoor area boasts a generous courtyard leading to the interior living space of the villa.

With white-washed walls and high vaulted ceilings, the masseria features a generous living room furnished with comfortable sofas, a bright dining area with large table, a fully-equipped kitchen and an adjacent breakfast room with round table. A few steps separate the living and dining area from the bedrooms. Offering classic charm and comfort, the villa boasts five spacious double bedrooms complete with en-suite bathroom with shower. On request, a double sofa bed can be added for two extra guests.
