Location and Surrounding Area. Standing near the shores of Lake Maggiore, this elegant eight-bedroom villa is the perfect place for a relaxing break by one of Italy’s most romantic lakes, home to the bewitching Borromean Islands. Stresa is one of the loveliest and most historic towns by the lake, set on a shore bordered by luxuriant gardens. With its cascade of grand Art Nouveau hotels and Neo-Classical villas, it is no wonder that Stresa has been a popular holiday destination since the late 19th century.

Forming Lake Maggiore’s most beautiful corner, the Borromean Islands add a delightful touch of natural beauty and historic interest. The most famous is Isola Bella, a strip of rocky land where, during the 17th century, a lovely palace surrounded by spectacular terraced gardens roamed by peacocks was built. A tour of the palace takes you through a series of rooms decorated with canvases by famous Baroque painters, as well as fine furniture, sculptures and Flemish tapestries.

With narrow streets and tall houses with long balconies used for drying fish, Isola Superiore, also known as Fishermen’s Island, retains much of its original fishing-village atmosphere. Many visitors make it their port of call for lunch, but stay overnight and you will fall in love with the place. The largest of the islands, Isola Madre, boasts a beautiful botanical garden in which peacocks, parrots and pheasants roam freely, and a 17th-century palace built by the Borromeo princes.

The villa is a few kilometers from Verbania, the biggest town on Lake Maggiore, which makes a good base for exploring the west bank. The town is strung out along the lakeshore and consists of three districts. Verbania Pallanza, the middle chunk, with a pretty waterfront and a ferry stop, is the most interesting one. Nicely set apart from the busier towns to the north and south, Cannobio, with its cobblestone streets, is a dreamy place that makes for a charming lake base.

Villa Erminia is 51 km from Milano Malpensa Airport and 105 km from Milano Linate Airport. Isola Bella is around 2 km from the villa, Isola Superiore is 3 km, Baveno is 4 km, Verbania is 15 km, Pallanza is 15 km, Arona is 17 km, Cannobio is 37 km, Como is 85 km, Argegno is 104 km, Lenno is 111 km, Menaggio is 119 km, and Bellagio is 125 km. The villa is just 1.5 km from the center of Stresa, where all the necessary services can be easily found.

The Property. Immersed in a magnificent park near the calm waters of Lake Maggiore, Villa Erminia provides the perfect retreat for those seeking complete privacy and relaxation in one of the most evocative corners in Northern Italy. Offering a tranquil atmosphere, this elegant villa has been beautifully designed with a central hall that divides the property into two wings and a wonderful spiral staircase that connects three floors. Located near Stresa, Villa Erminia can accommodate up to sixteen guests featuring eight bedrooms (seven double bedrooms and one twin room) spread over three floors.

Located on the shores of the lake, the villa boasts an exceptional and recently-renovated heated saltwater pool complete with Jacuzzi corner. Offering a peaceful atmosphere, the sundeck represents an idyllic spot for basking in the sun and enjoying wonderful moments of relaxation in the company of a good book and a glass of prosecco. It is complete with a functional pool house with changing room and two bathrooms with shower. Surrounded by a flowery pergola, the sundeck is equipped with sun loungers and deckchairs inviting guests to sit back and unwind.

The villa’s park is an oasis of peace in which to enjoy relaxing moments. In it, a small stream gushes out and the secular tall trees give refreshment even on the hottest days. The statues and fountains create a perfect atmosphere just a few steps from the center of Stresa. Indoors, the furniture of the villa is studied in every detail: the large living rooms and dining rooms are furnished with Art Nouveau antiques. The villa has generous and bright spaces, arranged on three floors for a total of 900 square meters. Outdoors, the villa features a tennis court which can be used as volleyball court or soccer field, and a bocce court.

Offering an elegant atmosphere, the main floor boasts a generous living room with a cozy sitting area with comfortable sofas and fireplace plus a relaxation area with TV. As the evening falls, relax on the sofas with a glass of local wine while you listen to the wood fire crackling. On the same floor you will also find a fully-equipped kitchen with all the amenities you might need during your stay and a spacious dining room with access to the outdoor terrace, two bathrooms – one of which is used a laundry – and an exceptional wine cellar.

Accessed by a spiral staircase, the first floor boasts five double bedrooms. One wing boasts a suite with walk-in closet and private bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi tub, children's room with crib and double sofa bed. The other wing features three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with shower and one with a tub. A bright terrace overlooking the pool extends over the entire floor. On the second floor you will find a living room with balcony and three bedrooms. One wing boasts a suite with a round double bed and private bathroom with shower. The other features a double bedroom, a twin room and a bathroom with shower.

Please note that the tennis court, the bocce court and the chapel are shared with the adjacent villa, which, however, is totally independent from Villa Erminia).
