A via ferrata, literally an “iron path,” is an equipped climbing route leading to a summit, fitted with cables, chains, rungs, bridges and other fixed anchor points such as ladders or wooden walkways. For experienced hikers, tackling a via ferrata is often at the top of their wish list, and nowhere compares with the Dolomites in terms of the number and sheer beauty of these equipped paths. There are 15,560 metres of equipped paths and vie ferrate to explore, provided you are equipped with the appropriate gear.
