Villa Montalcino – Montalcino - Tuscany

5 Bedrooms – Pool

Location and Surrounding Area. Villa Montalcino is a gorgeous Tuscan property beautifully set in a stunning area of Chianti. It is nestled deep in the heart of this enchanting countryside between Florence, Pisa and Siena and close to several famous vineyards producing some of the world's finest wines: the Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano and Tignanello for example. The Brunello di Montalcino, has been produced in the hills around Montalcino since the early 14th century, partly due to the fact that Montalcino has the warmest and driest climate in Tuscany.

The whole area is steeped in history and offers timeless villages perched precariously on the hillsides. Don't miss the unforgettable San Gimignano with its high medieval towers or Suvereto, arguably one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Siena is medieval gem, famous for its architecture, the Campo central piazza and the Palio horse race, which is held twice every summer. The Palio and the Campo piazza both featured in the James Bond Quantum of Solace film and as you sip a cappuccino in the piazza, it's hard not to slip into film-star mode as you watch the world go by.

Florence is the capital city of Tuscany and an art-lover's paradise. It was the centre of the Italian Renaissance movement and the museums, galleries, palaces and churches hold some of the world's greatest artistic treasures. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Piazza del Duomo is the largest building in Medieval Europe and Brunelleschi's Dome is not only a masterpiece of engineering but also the largest brick dome in the world. The octagonal St. John's Baptistry is one of the oldest buildings in Florence and is a marvellous example of the rich, Florentine, Romanesque style. Once you tire of art and history, take a wander through the delightful streets and across the Ponte Vecchio bridge which spans the River Arno. Florence is also home to designer shopping and fine wine and dining experiences. Thick, juicy Florentine steaks are a local speciality and best accompanied by a delicious, local Chianti wine.

For golf aficionados, the international Royal Golf La Bagnaia features an 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., which blends in harmoniously with the local landscape. You can even gaze out over Siena as you ponder your next stroke.

Villa Montalcino is an hour and a half from Perugia international airport, two hours from Florence international airport and about two and a half  hours from Pisa international airport. It takes about an hour to drive through picturesque countryside to Siena and the Royal Golf La Bagnaia golf course. Florence is a couple of hours away. The nearest coastal resorts are about 50 km away.

The Property. This stylish home forms part of the world-famous Argiano estate, which includes a fifteenth century castle offering both quality wine and olive oil tasting events. The estate has featured in various world-class home and property magazines over the years.

Villa Montalcino sleeps up to ten guests in five sumptuous double bedrooms, each with a superb en suite bathroom. The bedrooms have mosquito netting for your night time comfort. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has direct access to the pretty courtyard and the other four are on the first floor.

In a property as gracious as this one, there are various sitting rooms; two on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The rooms are all exquisitely decorated with antique pieces and feature traditional, exposed, wooden beams. There are also two, fully-fitted kitchens and a large dining room on the ground floor. You can also choose to eat your meals outside either under the shady pergola or in the flower-filled courtyard.

The mature gardens are extensive and the summer breeze will bring you heady scents of lavender, jasmine and fresh rosemary. The swimming pool is surrounded by plants for your privacy and features a fully-furnished poolside area.

There is a resident, English speaking maid living in a private apartment at the back of your house and can help you with any questions you might have.
